Strawberry Love

Strawberry Love

Happy Monday everyone.  I hope you all had a great weekend.  We spent the weekend cleaning and starting to restore little Lucy!  I am beyond excited to show you what we've been up to.  She's going to be so cute!  We've also pretty much eaten strawberries nonstop this weekend.  I was at Costco last week and saw someone walk by with a large container of the most gorgeous strawberries I've ever seen in my life!  I immediately headed toward the fruit section and loaded up my cart.  When I got them home and tasted them I was not disappointed.  They were amazingly sweet and juicy!  I think baby bumblebee may have eaten 5 pints just on his own this weekend.

One of my favorite and most versatile strawberry recipes is this recipe for strawberry syrup.  It is the perfect way to preserve that fresh strawberry flavor for the months to come.  It can be used in SO MANY WAYS!  No matter how many batches I freeze each year, I always seem to run out.  Trust me, you cannot make too much!  Some of the things we love this sauce on are: pancakes, waffles, ice cream, cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, crepes, strawberry Italian sodas, the list could go on.  I hope you enjoy this sauce as much as we do.  Have a great week.

Decorating with Meaning

Decorating with Meaning

My number one piece of home decorating advice is to surround yourself with things you love.  Whether it is the colors you love, things you love to collect, or things that are meaningful and have a history.  There are so many ways to add  pieces throughout your house that make you happy.  If you start by surrounding yourself with things that you love, your home will become a refection of you and you will love being there.

The picture above shows how I've displayed an old handwritten recipe card written by my sweet little grandma.  It makes me happy each time I see it. I love her familiar handwriting and the fact that the recipe is for beet relish.  I wanted to fit the small recipe card in a  5x7 frame I found so I added burlap behind it.  I love that it gives it a little texture and makes it more rustic.  I also felt like the cute red strawberries would pop more with a little extra color so I used washi tape to tape the card to the burlap.  So simple!

This week I'm focusing on things I love in my home. I have many "obsessions" and collections of things I love, so it's not going to be easy to narrow them down.  Hopefully showing how you how I incorporate things that make me happy into my home will give you inspiration to do the same.  I'd love to see what you are doing in your homes with things that you love!  Share your pictures with this week on instagram at #ohhhomelove (our humble hive home love).
